So you too would like to
be one of the High Roller Brigade, huh? If you read the About
Us page you already know a little bit of what team membership entails.
Here we will discuss specifics.
Before we go any further,
please understand that we are selective about whose sleeve we allow
our dice to hang on. We are looking for serious scenario paintball fanatics
who play with honesty and integrity. We will not allow our team's name
to be tarnished by people who cheat. Also, if fights and trouble seem
to follow you everywhere (especially on the paintball field), please
move on. We are serious about playing to win but we are even more serious
about having fun while doing it! With that said, let's move on.
DUES and EXPENSES
The first thing on everyone's mind is money! Just exactly how much are
the dues? Our annual dues are a whopping $10.00. That's it. This money
goes into the team treasury and is used to purchase materials for our
practice field or to help offset the cost of a scenario event. If you
are a new member and this is your first dues payment, you will receive
one unit patch, one unit name tape and three uniform tapes with your
last name embroidered. (Additional patches and tapes will be the individual
member's responsibility.)
When we travel to an event
we typically share rooms and the cost thereof. Each member is responsible
for their own event entry fees and food. The cost of event paint is
divided equally among the attending team members. This is primarily
because of our play strategy. While a heavy gunner will use much more
paint than say a grenadier, it is a TEAM effort. The heavy gunner is
using that paint to cover the grenadier's bacon and help facilitate
a victorious mission. Therefore, paint expense is shared as a TEAM.
GENERAL ORGANIZATION
As we mentioned on the About
Us page, the High Roller Brigade is organized into Able, Baker and
Charlie Companies. Each team member has an equal vote in most team affairs.
When considering an individual for team membership, only Able and Baker
Company members may cast a vote to accept or decline. When considering
an individual for promotion, only members of equal or higher rank than
the level of promotion may vote. When considering promotion of the senior
officer to a higher level, only officers may vote.
The High Roller Brigade typically
plays WWII scenarios and therefore, we field both an American infantry
uniform likeness and a German fallschirmjager (paratrooper) uniform
likeness. Let me reiterate that we are not reenactors and these uniforms
are merely Hollywood type impressions and are not necessarily historically
accurate. Assembling your uniform(s) will have a direct bearing on your
Company assignment and your ability to advance in rank. Uniforms will
be discussed later in detail.
CHARLIE COMPANY
New enlistees are automatically assigned to Charlie Company with the
rank of private. Once the American uniform is assembled you will become
a member of Baker Company. Becoming a member of Baker Company does not
necessarily mean that you will be promoted in rank at that time.
BAKER COMPANY
With your American uniform assembled you will now be elligible for promotion
to NCO rank and you will have one year to assemble your German uniform.
This too is not a particularly costly or difficult task and this time
may be extended by special vote of Able Company members for unusual
circumstances . Once the German uniform is assembled you will become
a member of Able Company. As before, becoming a member of Able Company
does not necessarily mean that you will be promoted in rank at that
time.
ABLE COMPANY
With both your American and German uniforms assembled you will become
elligible for promotion to officer rank. As a member of Able Company
you have demonstrated that you are fully on board with the team's concept
and are now prepared to field either uniform, depending on the team's
play preference.
AMERICAN UNIFORM
The requirements for the American infantry uniform are quite simple.
OD green or WWII khaki (not TAN) pants and shirt, khaki belt, leggings
and boots. You can go above and beyond to your desire. Many of us have
assembled an impression of period web gear, added a helmet, found double
buckle boots, etc. Assembling the uniform likeness is normally a work
in progress and many items can often be found for a steal on websites
like Sportsman's Guide.
GERMAN UNIFORM
The requirements for the German
fallschirmjager uniform are equally simple. OD or sage green pants (many
of us use the pants from our American uniform), Swiss army surplus alpenflage
shirt, and black combat boots. Again, by all means go above and beyond
with your likeness. East German surplus leather belt/suspenders are
ideal for a web gear likeness and many other inexpensive surplus items
can be easily adapted. This uniform assembly too is normally a work
in progress and many items can often be found for a steal on websites
like Sportsman's Guide and Centerfire Systems.
